Claudia Rosel is a Spanish photographer, documentary filmmaker (Director/DP), and producer focused on stories about migration, climate, and culture.

Driven by a deep curiosity about the world, she has worked with newsrooms, nonprofits, and international organizations, with work published in The Guardian, El País, El Español, Associated Press, Al Jazeera or the New Humanitarian.

Claudia spent four years based between Kenya and Somalia while working with the United Nations, where she reported on the impacts of drought, conflict over natural resources, and irregular migration. Her work in the humanitarian sector also took her to Ethiopia, Qatar, Greece, and Mexico, where she documented stories on forced displacement, women’s rights, and peacebuilding. In addition to her focus on crisis and displacement, Claudia is equally drawn to stories that celebrate culture, music, and local traditions.

Her work has been published in El País, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, El Español, CTXT, and The New Humanitarian. While in Somalia, she also produced reporting trips and accompanied journalists to remote areas, supporting coverage for outlets such as PBS NewsHour, The New York Times, Reuters, and Deutsche Welle.

She is currently completing an M.S. in Documentary Filmmaking at Columbia Journalism School (2025), where she is co-directing her first film—an intimate portrait reflecting on aging and the need for human connection.
