Claudia Rosel is a photographer and filmmaker with extensive experience documenting communities affected by conflict, displacement, and climate crises. Her work has been published by the Associated Press, The Guardian, The Washington Post, El País, CTXT, Al Jazeera, among others.
Before shifting to independent work, Claudia spent five years living between Kenya and Somalia as a multimedia producer and communications coordinator for IOM — the UN Migration Agency. She covered major humanitarian crises across the East and Horn of Africa, including the 2021–23 drought. During this time, she also produced global stories on resettlement, human trafficking, climate-driven conflict, and women’s rights that took her to work in refugee camps in the Middle East, Europe, and Central America.
A recipient of the Overseas Press Club Scholar Fellowship and two Pulitzer Center Crisis Reporting Grants, she holds an MS from Columbia Journalism School, funded by a scholarship from Fundación “la Caixa.”
Claudia has also worked across documentary and fiction film as Director, producer and DoP. She co-directed the documentary REVIVAL (2025), which follows 79-year-old Chris as she confronts terminal cancer while finding community through dance. The film is set to premiere at festivals this year.
Trained to work in hostile environments and certified as a PADI Advanced/Rescue Diver, Claudia brings a global lens to her work, rooted in a deep respect for local cultures.
